The Project

"Sense Your City, Taste Its Sights" is a project for teenagers from Greece, Poland, Portugal & Spain co-funded by the European Union in the framework of the Erasmus+ program (2018-1-ES01-KA229-050363).

Our project aims at making teenagers conscious of the cultural heritage in Agios Nikolaos, Barcelos, Gdynia and Tarragona, that is, the natural landscapes, archaeological
sites, literature, arts, food, etc. They shall learn its value as part of their own identity and as a wealthy gift for future generations. Moreover, students will be encouraged to use their five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste) as a means to discover partners' cities in depth through  the quest of international cooperation. Hence, their intercultural awareness, tolerance and open-mindedness will be increased.

This project is also intended to giving students who are hundreds of kilometers apart from each other, the chance to get closer, exchange their traditions and points of view, share and appreciate their heritage while fostering a sense of belonging to a common European space.

The main goals of the project are the promotion of the European cultural heritage to widen students' knowledge, the inclusion of students with socials and educational difficulties, the prevention of early school leaving, the improvement of students' communicative/ICT skills, the raise in interest for foreign language learning and the development of other lifelong key competences such as autonomy, curiosity, creativity.

The project includes different types of tasks to be carried out before, during and after each short-term exchange and also some long-term tasks to be completed gradually during the project's  lifetime. This  cooperation among schools will result into tangible materials which other teachers and students can benefit from in the future. Furthermore, they will favour international learning experiences and intercultural awareness and allow to swap good practices.
