Let's learn a little Spanish and Catalan before travelling to Tarragona!

Before COVID-19 changed our plans, the Spanish team of pupils had prepared this GLOSSARY IN PROGRESS video, just as they fellow pupils from the other three countries had done just before each exchange. 

Nobody knew when we could meet face to face in Tarragona or if that would happen at all, but because of the lockdown and the experiences which were still to come, the eager for exploring Tarragona's culture was even bigger... and so was the Spanish team's will for sharing it!

"Ode to the Joy", a European Anthem in Four Languages

Aiming at finding a song we could sing in the four national languages of the partner countries involved in this project,  we finally agreed on Beethoven's glorious "Ode to the Joy". 

Its popular catchy melody and also the connotations of this European anthem suited perfectly the topic of the project and also our main aim: teaching each other to sing in Polish, Greek,  Portuguese and Spanish. 

Once the song was picked up, the teams at each school have been preparing a video to help their partners abroad to prepare the song in different languages and rehearse before the International Singing Session which will take place during the mobility to Agios Nikolaos in October 2019.

My city and The Sea

During the short-term exchange to Gdynia, the students from the four partner schools presented on the  connection between their cities and the sea. After all, Agios Nikolaos, Barcelos, Gdynia and Tarragona are coastal cities or are situated very close to it, a feature which has strongly influenced their history, their personality and all their cultural traits.

After the presentations, participants stated that, in spite of being  close to different seas (the Mediterranean and the  Aegean, the Baltic but also the Atlantic Ocean) and being exposed to different climates and a different history, we do have much in common since all four cities owe their most remarkable features to the close presence of the sea.

During the mobility to Gdynia (Poland) in May 2019, all four Erasmus+ teams joined to present this connection between their city and the sea to their fellows, thus exchanging their points of view, evidencing the differences but also the many similarities among Tarragona, Agios Nikolaos, Gdynia and Barcelos. Students also made experiements to learn about the differences in the salinity levels of the four seas/oceans!
